2) Spent Monday off work sick, and the rest of the week playing catch-up. Tired, narked, tired-narked and thoroughly tarked-noff. Fortunately found this recipe, which, even if you’re not hungover, ticks the boxes of quick, convenient, tasty and pleasingly messy to eat. F**k All This For a Laugh Noodles, if you will….
FATFAL NoodlesPack noodles (rice, egg, buckwheat etc) 1/4 a savoy cabbage, sliced into chunks Several button mushrooms, sliced into chunks Hot chilli sauce. No, hotter than that (bloody lightweights, why do I let you people on my blog, anyway?) Garlic, ginger, soy sauce, cider or rice vinegar, sesame oil (for the dressing) Vegetable or olive oil Couple of eggs Salt Mix the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar and sesame oil. Set aside. Boil some water in a pan, and add the cabbage and mushrooms. Simmer for a minute or so. Add the noodles and some salt, cook until noodles soft. Meanwhile, heat some oil in a frying pan and fry the egg (for a healthier option, I reckon you could probably poach the egg in the water along with the vegetables). (EDIT: yes, actually poaching the egg works just fine. Add it when you first add the veg to the boiling water). Drain the veg/noodle mix and then toss in the bowl of dressing. Pour the noodles/veg into a bowl, top with the egg and a decent dollop of chilli sauce. Warning – there’s a definite afterkick of raw garlic to this, as well as the chilli. Perhaps not a good *first date* meal…..
