It’s Flying Ant day, and all the Queens are drunkenly airborne.  On the edge of the metal drain-plate on the pavement a pile of them boil; intrigues and alliances too subtle for any human to catch.  The air is so thick with humidity that you can walk, smoothly and rolling in every joint, with no fear of falling; like an old sweater it would softly catch you if you fell.
